That sounds like how I addressed my Oboe when I was working towards Grade 8. I had a desire to turn it into matchwood and scrapmetal.
On those days the best thing for it was to put it in its case and shrug.
Hey Jo, glad to know I'm not the only one. The thing is I feel like that every time I practice flute - I just don't like it. Not as much as I dislike clarinet (did Grade 8, got distinction and only played it about 5 times since!) but still, I am not hugely keen on it. As I no longer have parental pressure and I have no need to do the Grade 8 particularly I might stop aiming for it for now. Especially as I have various other instruments that I really enjoy playing so might as well spend my time playing them.

I must admit I have enjoyed the new smilieys. I just wanted you lot to realise that just because I'm approximately 20 years older doesn't mean I forgot what it felt like when I was 18. Hubby is playing badminton. I have been as festive as an ensuring that the children get something in their christmas

The piano tuner is coming tomorrow which is great as the grand has gone out by about a quarter tone in places. My brother sometimes plays it very hard and it is an old Broadwood and when it starts to slip it does it in style! The upright is still fine though (and the digital that I use for upstairs) so I am not pianoless. Said brother is currently improvising on the upright in the room below my bedroom and so I have had to turn the organ music off as there were some interesting clashes going on...
