I am here for a bit. I am transferring 15 CDs worth of Mahler onto my computer which is taking a while... I am happy to have lots of Mahler now though and I am listening to it with a smile on my face!

What is everyone else up to?

Hello! How is everyone this evening?
I feel rather stupid...my dog jumped from the top of the sofa (

) this afternoon and landed on my wrist which is now really painful. It shouldn't be, he's only a little dog but still - it was some height to be landed on from!
Sounds good, Moose. Have you had a good day?
Randommoose
Dec 28 2007, 08:13 PM
I hope your wrist gets better soon Miss Ross and I hope your dog gave you a contrite look and has been extra nice to you since

Yep, had a good, if rather sleepy day here. You?

One hot chocolate please.
O good. The robot has brought it over without spilling any.

Dec 29 2007, 06:00 AM
Hi Sarah, I was working at the computer writing some music stuff out and I have been popping in here too to make it a little more interesting. i am usually up very early. What about you?
sarah123
Dec 29 2007, 06:02 AM
erm, well i'm the opposite - i go to bed really late

I'm trying to play the recorder really quietly at the moment
petrat
Dec 29 2007, 06:04 AM
Have you put a mute in it? I go to bed really late too. If I have four hours of sleep I am OK.
sarah123
Dec 29 2007, 06:06 AM
no mute, but sounds a really good idea, so i'll look into getting one. I'm just trying to stear clear of too many high notes.
petrat
Dec 29 2007, 06:10 AM
You can make a mute very easily from a piece of paper. You just fold a short strip into an L shape and put it into the window gently. If you turn over a little you will be able to hear tiny notes but if you turn over a larger bit you will hear changes in vibrations of each note but nothing else. Very useful for playing in flats or hotel rooms. What are you learning at the moment?
sarah123
Dec 29 2007, 06:12 AM
right, well, i'll try and find some paper then.
at the moment i'm playing a handel sonata, and two linde exercises
petrat
Dec 29 2007, 06:14 AM
I love Handel; recorder stuff and songs. I am revising La Folia (Corelli) variations and the Vivaldi Concerto for my little sopranino.

Dec 29 2007, 06:18 AM
Yes, he is rather nice even though I call him Little Beast. I really want a subcontrabass though. What sizes do you play?
sarah123
Dec 29 2007, 06:20 AM
well, i have all from sopranino to tenor, but can only 'play' the treble, as i don't have any music for the others yet.
aren't subcontrabasses huge?
petrat
Dec 29 2007, 06:25 AM
They are like keyed telegraph poles! There is a fantastic one on Youtube. Have a look sometime. It will amuse you. I am off to finish a few more bars on my music now. Thanks for the chat. Bye

How do you survive on 4 hours sleep, Petra? The last time I had to get up after about 4 hours sleep, I nearly fell asleep again getting dressed!
Same here...I remember falling asleep on the bus to school and then sleeping through French as well

.
QUOTE(noodle @ Dec 29 2007, 11:26 AM)

Me too! Went to bed earlier than usual last night and I've just had a very long lie in today - nearly 12 hours sleep.

Still don't want to get up!! Never mind - there is a reason for my constant tiredness, the consultant just hasn't figured out what yet!

12 hours!

Hope they work it out soon, noodle.
