Hi DC, actually was just going to shut down, going over to see Dad. Nothing much to do this evening so might take my laptop to the hotel (a different one today at the cricket ground) and get on line later.
If not back tomorrow.

I have just had one of the most anxious 24hours.
My Alexander was bitten by a tick about 10 days ago. His clumsy clot of a mother only removed half of the tick.
A few days ago he started going off his food and has been very moody. Yesterday, he had a headache, his muscles and joints ached, he had glands up, trouble sleeping and the only thing that would do (until about 9.45pm was a cuddle from mummy)
Well that was yesterday. This morning he was rubbing his head and arms and complaining of a headache, so off we trotted to our GPs.
Well MrsD, Lyme Disease is very rare... I knew that, unfortunately the symptoms fitted and my family collect "rare". I'll have to contact the infectious diseases people and paediatrics people and give you a call back.
I expected a call back at the end of surgery, so called to see if there was any news; there was no news.
What about at the end of visits; no news then either, and what was more instead of getting friendly receptionist I got BRFH. So I told the obstreprous receptionist why this was so important, and that if it was lyme disease he needed to get onto antibiotics ASAP and I didn't care that my GP was now in a meeting I wanted a call back. I got a call back.
Probable Lyme Disease, good thing you spotted it so quickly I'm writing him a script for a long course of antibiotics. He should make a good recovery.
Now on top of family members with Gulliam Barre, Meningitis, Hemi-plagic Migraine, Fibromyalgia, and Anaphalactic reactions we can now add Lyme Disease. We just don't do normal.

All it means is when any doctor tells me its rare, I don't discount it. I give them a stats lecture then list the family history and say, well we'll have to be vigilent then. Do they really think a highly intelligent patient is not going to use exactly the same tools as them to look things up on the internet make a rational decision and then confirm they read the same advice.
That's how I reacted when Alex got bitten in the first place, I think I quoted chapter and verse what my GP was about to tell me.

Alex is back at school... along with a bag of medicines and some very strict instructions for the first aiders.
I thought it better as he is not at all contagious for him to be with his friends where they may keep his spirits up.
On the way out of school. I informed his Beaver leader and two close friends of mine were there too. One a keen walker who promptly reminded me that Lyme's can be very nasty, and another a district nurse.
All the shock of the last 24 hours came out as I recalled the 4 hour delay between seeing the doctor and getting the telephone call from my GP saying Infectious diseases say its proabably lyme's we need to give him antibiotics. Whilst I knew that diagnose it at stage 1, the stage Alex is at, and the prognosis is excellent, there is very little risk of endocarditis, juvenille arthritis or encephalitis.
So when my friend said, 'that can be really nasty' she basically hit my biggest fear. I was so pleased because it was now in the open, and I didn't need to be brave any more. My friends were great, as I went wibble, wibble they just listened and cared. Well that's what friends are for.
Thanks for your concern f#minor.
Morning DC.

what a great way to spend the day - in the company of the great man
I am on and off the phone trying to sort out a problem that has arisen for Sunday.
The orchestra is playing in the park but I have only just heard that where we should be setting up to play will be occupied by an African Drumming Group! at almost the same time
