To my knowledge one could take exams in march '08 using the syallbus from 06-07. but after that they syllabus came void. My friend has just told me that this has changed and that you can no longer use the previous syllabus in the spring term?

Nope, i didn't know that! but how fanastic! I've never even seen one in the flesh before. Then again...i don't know anyone that plays the recorder seriously enough to pay so much for one
I didn't have to pay for it really. One of my kind relatives left me some money recently and I spent it on that. I would never have afforded one otherwise.

You can mention it if you want, it's not that bad, honest. I haven't heard anything recently though, although I think it should be coming back any time now, as when I rang up 2 weeks ago they said it would be between 2 and 3 weeks.
Knowing my luck, it'll probably be another month or so though. 
I expect that it will be worth the wait.

I use my harpsichord quite a lot. I have a Yammy digital with loads of sounds and voices. The classical guitar makes a great lute if you transpose it an octave higher.

no, the button marked piano, followed by pressing the + button lots of times
I also quite like the fact that you can speed things up. I can play through an accompaniment REALLY slowly, but perfectly, speed it up by about 5 times and hey presto, full-speed harpsichord part to play along with.
I am off to muck out the kitchen now before bed.

would be handy wouldn't it, shame it doesn't work that way though
I keep repeating bars without realising, then having to spend another 10 minutes starting all over from the beginning again.

School work is going fine; I think I am keeping ontop of it all Haven't heard from oxford yet. I suspect I will find out within the next week if I have an interview or not. The interviews are from 14th-17th December though. How is your son doing at Durham?

BerkshireSon is very happy at Durham, thanks. It's an incredibly friendly place and the work level is about right - he's doing fine but there's enough new stuff to be reasonably challenging. He's also in two orchestras and a concert band, so happily occupied clarinet-wise.

Well I dropped the contesting brass band I was in as it took up a big chunk of time. 7pm-11pm every tuesday with regular 'gigs' and contests in february and march, so I didn't feel i could fully commit as i'd have resits during the time of rehearsals. I'm still doing Regional Orchestra and Wind Orchestra and orchestra and concert band at the local music centre. Along with all the school bands I am in...so i'm still doing a fair bit to keep me occupied

I'm such an idiot!... I carefully arranged a piano lesson (well, will probably do more recorder playing than piano playing, as my piano teacher is accompanying me for my exam) for just after school tomorrow. So good so far, but I just realised that I have first lesson, then 10 mins of tutorial followed by the rest of the day free, so I'm going to be sitting around for about 5 hours... hopefully there'll be practice rooms free!

Fine, thanks, DC. I did a solo in church today - a Graham Kendrick song about Mary's view of things; it starts "Since the day the angel came". I was a bit rusty to say the least, but the preacher had requested it and the lady who usually does the solos couldn't be there today. People were very complimentary afterwards, which was encouraging.

I would normally have a full day on monday, it's just its L6 progress reviews in the afternoon, so we don't have lessons then, and I've done the module they're doing in maths at the moment so don't have to go to that.
Erm, I could be doing maths homework, it depends on whether I can find a friend to explain what we're meant to be doing. It's a tough choice though, maths or recorder...

I'm still quite behind on my composition! I finally had a break through in college the other day and did a lot of work until the network crashed meaning Sibelius shut down and I lost all my work!
I did hear Sarah's composition and thought it was very good!
I agreed with some of the comments being said, such as the opening was too quick etc.
