Scientists Decode the First Message From an Alien Civilization:
Simply send 6 x 10 to the 50 atoms of Hydrogen to the Star System at
the top of the list, cross off that star system, then put your Star

Within one-tenth of a Galactic Rotation you will receive enough hydrogen

What GCSE's do you take, Nicki? There's probably no use in revising Maths, English, French and Music, because there's probably not much to remember (apart from some occasional vocabulary), so you should try to focus on things like the Sciences and History where facts are necessary.
I do Maths, English, Science, History, French, Graphics, Sociology, Music.
Maths! I have today, there is loads to learn, especially since I am not a natural mathematician. English, I had to learn 2 books for English Literature, and we weren't allowed them in the exam, French I had to memorise about 50-60 questions and answers and a presentation, and Music, our teacher was rubbish so I had to learn a lot. I am worried about History though because I haven't had time to learn that much, and will so have to learn it all tomorrow. Eep. (I have been revising since Easter but I have had 7 exams this week)

I feel rubbish this morning as well because I woke up at 5, my hayfever is bad, and I am shattered. I have to do Maths revision and an exam, argh!!

Jun 7 2005, 07:16 AM
Morning all! And a bright sunny one it is too.
Nicki -if you're shattered you won't remember anything you revised so PUT IT DOWN NOW. If you don't know stuff by now, revision won't help.
Is it a morning exam or an afternoon one?
nicki_flute
Jun 7 2005, 07:24 AM
Afternoon, which I hate because I have the whole morning to fill up. I am worried about Maths though, I really am. I haven't picked up the book yet
katyjay
Jun 7 2005, 07:43 AM
In that case, don't pick up a book. Use the time constructively - treat yourself to an hour of sleep. Get an alarm clock, set it for 10am and go back to bed. Then at 10am get up, wash your face with COLD water (which will also help the hayfever) and gently get ready to go to your exam in the afternoon. This will do you a world of good, I promise - I've been there and done that (sort of)......
*enters elderly reminiscence mode and turns sepia-coloured soft focus lens on*
Many years ago (in the middle of the last century) I took the Oxford University entrance exam (when they used to have them). My first paper was an afternoon one. This turned out to be a Good Thing, largely because our next-door neighbours (a group of students) had decided to spend the previous night having an all-night party. My Dad went round to complain at midnight, 3am and 6am and they finally stopped around 8am. So I had no sleep at all the night before said exam. My mum advised me to do just what I've suggested to you. It's amazing how much that unscheduled extra hour of sleep helped me feel alert and able to concentrate - I'm sure it made the difference to my passing the exam.....

The problem is once I have woken up I can't get back to sleep, I will try and rest though. But when I am resting I feel I am wasting time and could be revising something else. I didn't revise yesterday morning for Science, but I had worked and revised a lot for that, but simply haven't had that much time for Maths. Are you sure revision won't work

. In that case, I don't think I am going to do very well today *sighs unhappily*
Maggie - I'll need to emply a translator so I can understand all these languages!
Thanks for your advice though, once this week is out of the way I'll be a bit happier.

yes - this week sounds pretty awful and by the weekend I guess you'll have the worst behind you.
Btw I said good morning in Japanese and asked for a coffee and pain au chocolate!
Thought I would strike a blow for non-European languages in the face of all the French and German we've heard round here recently !!!
