could i have some strong BLACk coffee please
Is that so it doesn't show so badly when it goes over the desk again?

Wouldn't it be so you don't get the lingering smell of sour milk 2 days after spilling it all over your desk?
it never goes away either ......
reminds me of a collection of used cups in an office of a friend .... he could tell how old they were by how far the fur had grown inside the cup. it got so bad that ocupational health told him to get rid of them or they would! he didnt do it so a man in whites and medical gloves came to collect them. Who says authority figures dont have a sense of humour!
what is really alarming is that he still works there and is now an authority figure. Never can tell can you ....

Well, take extra care and allow yourself lots of extra time for the journey. And make sure you have a full tank of petrol when you set out.
Also make sure you have a blanket and a couple of bottles of water in the car with you (not in the boot), and make sure your mobile's fully charged - just in case things do go horribly wrong and you're stuck in the car in the cold.
You probably won't need the stuff, but it's better to have it un-necessarily than come to a spot of bother and get cold and dehydrated.

Probably a stupid idea, Nat, but maybe worth a try....
Yonks ago (maybe 3 years?) our cleaner knocked the switch on the unit that does the timing for the central heating. She tried to put it back to where it was, but just got the timings even more adrift, making it worse every time she tried to fix it.
I came home to a freezing cold house and couldn't figure out why - until I finally checked the central heating clock and saw that the "on" and "off" times looked a bit wierd.
So maybe have a look at the central heating timer?

I don't understand timer things, or anything do with heating systems. But I rang my brother and told me to look at the switch next to the 'box' and it is on 'ON'. So I haven't got a clue. I'm going out for tea about 6ish tonight, and if it hasn't changed when I get back I'll have to ring my parents in Portugal.
This is the 3rd time the heating has decided to 'break', luckily I wasn't here for the first 2. I'm glad I wasn't.

My youngest brother - now 3, is in Portugal with my mum and step dad. 10 year old brother is away for the week at his dads, and my eldest brother(16) is out at the cinema with his girlfriend. So I'm on my own.

OK Nat, so at the moment you can't do much to fix the heating. You need to keep yourself warm by other means.
Put on an extra pair of socks, wear some tights or leggings under your jeans, an extra sweater and (bizarre as it sounds) a woolly hat if you can find one. If you still feel cold, wrap yourself in a blanket.
Close all the doors in the house. That way the heaters you've got will heat the room you're actually in. Only leave that room when you absolutely have to.
And have a steaming hot, calorie-free mug of Katyjay's finest coffee!

Make sure you give them a call when you get back if it is still in the same state. You need to make sure the heating is working during this cold snap. Not just for your sake but for the house as well, although your the most important!
Another option, (if your friendly with/know them), is your neighbours.
You never know your brother may know how it works.
