That's good to hear! How are preparations going for your recital?

Jan 25 2006, 09:42 AM
Okay I guess - it would probably help if I actually practised!

Well, at least you have your latent virtuosity to fall back on, unlike us mere mortals!

I don't know about that!

Afternoon, Katyjay. Is your house warmed through again now?
katyjay
Jan 25 2006, 02:20 PM
It's fine now, thanks YAP. But the next-door neighbour on the river side has decided to light a bonfire and everything stinks of smoke
YetAnotherPianist
Jan 25 2006, 02:25 PM
Ick, that can't be nice. I don't mind the smell of a distant bonfire in a farmer's field, but up close it's too much.
katyjay
Jan 25 2006, 02:29 PM
Irritating, certainly. Ah well, I'll brew up some peppermint tea to relax with, then I'll open the window and give him a few coloratura exercises at full belt....

Jan 25 2006, 02:31 PM
Careful with your voice there; don't want any smoke damage. Maybe you could unleash your violin of mass destruction

.
mrbouffant
Jan 25 2006, 02:31 PM
Will I be able to hear you from Central London ?
katyjay
Jan 25 2006, 02:38 PM
Unfortunately the violin isn't an option, YAP - I've done something (not sure how or what) to my left shoulder, and holding the fiddle up today was a trifle painful - so that I've had to cancel a lesson and have been instructed not to practise

Judging by the wind direction Mr B the answer's no. If the wind were blowing towards London the smoke would go over the river and wouldn't be a nuisance.

Hi Katyjay - what is the latest concert news?
At this early stage, there are four people signed up for the Leicester gig. And seventeen (plus three alleged "it's in the post") people signed up for the Egham one - the vast majority of whom are duetting or playing a variety of instruments, so it'll be quite a decent size concert.
Egham has broken even (unlike the Christmas concert

) but still has a way to go to match last year.
