oohh we on about books? oh well who cares what we're on about!im reading charlotte gray, need to get round to harry potter though!
light on snow is fantastic, but the book i love the most at the moment is called 'one child' by torey haydn (? not sure on surname) who teachs 'special' kids in real life, the story was about one girl in her class. she had been abused and didn't talk or cry when she first went into the class and then after a lot of hard work torey had success with her..it was a really moving story, made my cry! but if anyone ever gets the chance to read it, you should! i think its brilliant!

ahhh just been looking at my new piano syllabus, and i have to play at least one piece from memory

how on earth am i meant to do that?!
nicki_flute
Jul 27 2005, 04:37 PM
You can do it. I did a flute thing with the Galways, and you had to learn 6 pieces of by heart. Play it in short chunks, often.

Eeeep. There is an ambulance outside our house (not for us). It is for the people next door for some reason. Dad got a big shock when he turned into our road, he thought something had happened to us.

Aww what a shame. Never mind I'm sure they'll have it quite often if they find it a success. Which I'm very sure it will be, looking at the no. of people on this forum.

violin-ann
Jul 27 2005, 08:05 PM
Can't you skip the band for one day? Say you're in a concert.
nicki_flute
Jul 27 2005, 08:12 PM
Can't, new conductor, only 3rd practice of the year. Also, I may have to skip band for netball and possibly another James Galway concert (e.g lots of rehearsals)

Aren't under 18's not allowed to suggest to the board about a Christmas concert? I'm sure a lot of people here will back you up.

Jul 27 2005, 08:35 PM

If you can't organise one, then suggest it, and maybe pm katyjay to get backing?
nicki_flute
Jul 27 2005, 08:43 PM
I have no idea where it would be, it was only a suggestion. I am under 18, so would be hard ot organise in legality rules.

It's not that difficult. It is an option to play without music in the piano exams I have taken (g1 and 5) and so I have! I find it easier than playing with the book in front of me.

Hmmmm well I don't know a lot about such things but maybe (I said maybe) Nicki and I could do something together in the Midlands area. We are gathering a lot of expertise between us I know there are those out there we could call on for advice and support?

Jul 28 2005, 08:55 AM
Hehe, wow that is a bit ambitious Jane! We need someone to organise it though! Concert wise, I have a concert on the 4th December, and my last band on the 10th. But there might be another James Galway concert...so I'd have to see when that was. Hmm.
