Hi sbhoa! Yes I'm still here! *waves*
The cow isn't ready for grade 1 yet I'm afraid! I learnt 3 new notes this week and I can play Land of Hope and Glory! ! Wooooo
No, I don't think I'll bother with the aural tests for grade 1. There wouldn't be much point - apart from anything else I've done them so many times with so many different students, I know all of them from memory. My sax teacher and I were joking that I might get about 4 for aural tests though...
How's your grade 1 challenge going?

I think it's going ok. Barry has been giving me a bit of helpful feedback.

Hi Patricia. It's my sax - I said it sounded like a cow when I first tried to play it (I still think it does

) and everyone calls it a cow now. There's more about it on the Grade 1 challenge thread, the thread started by Andante-in-C.

No, leave it be. Its continuation means that all of the "how are you" chat is confined to one (admittedly huge) thread, which gives the others a fighting chance of staying vaguely on topic. OK, it doesn't happen all the time, but do you want all of the threads to be hijacked with chat? I don't.

CPPF, stop being so hard on yourself. 79% is an excellent mark - what were you expecting 95% +!
You need to take some time out from this revision and put these marks in perspective. These are A grade results already. I'm sure you have got better. But you don't want to jeopardise your potential A grade by getting over stressed. Do another paper not the same one. If you are consisently geting 75% + then you have nothing to worry about.

You need to take a break from biology NOW. Go back to it after doing some work on a completely different subject like English. Better still take some time out from revision and do something you want to do.
You are far more likely to get that A* if you stop worrying. Have you tried Bach Rescue Remedy? Eat a banana before the exam so that the tryptophan will steady your nerves. Oh and get enough sleep. If by 10pm it hasn't gone in it isn't going to do so. Have a warm bath and a milky drink, and go to bed. Then start the revision off again in the morning (after you have eaten breakfast).

Revision tips for Chocolate lovers.
Buy a small bar of chocolate and divide it into pieces.
Find your optimal concentration time (normally between 15-30 minutes).
Once you have revised for that time. get up, have a walk around and eat a piece of the chocolate.
Give yourself a good ten minutes break.
Repeat ( Revise, chocolate break revise, etc)
When all the chocolate is gone do no more revision you won't take any more in.

Will do, thanks Jod! I'm going to have my lunch now and will probably start revising RE as that exam is next week *gulp*

Will need somewhere to lock chocolate away during sessions so I don't "just have one more piece"
Gulp - a week today is my first proper exam....I got 35/40 in a test I did on Tuesday, but if I get a theory question I'm stuffed. Don't even get me started on Tony Harrison poetry!

Talking of exams, my modular Science exams went OK. I found Module 5 (Energy & Electricity) the easiest.
Also, I found out from my head of year that I'm on the shortlist to be Head Boy

. I had a feeling I would be because quite a lot of people voted for me and I'm very popular in my year group

! We'll just have to wait and see what happens.
