Yes. Apart from trying to explain elided vowels to them, and having them lapse every so often into... ahem... vernacular... versions of the choruses (some of which used vocabulary that rather surprised me) and then having gales of giggles when I stopped in amazement.

I mean, I know several rugby club versions of Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves, I just didn't expect two respectable elderly matrons to do so too

When you're singing Italian, if one word ends in a vowel and the next word starts with a vowel you sort-of sing the two vowels together on one note one after the other (you don't quite mix them together but you run one into the other).
Vernacular language is the language you use everyday. And can be a euphemism for very rough, rude language.
