Thanks everyone! Sarah, I'm glad you like your picture!
To those of you who are teachers (music or not) or anyone really, what are the best things I could do to support my mum who's got an OFSTED next week that she only found out about last week. I'll do all the obvious things such as let her get on with work, not moan at her and make meals and cups of tea and let her know that I'll always be there for her no matter what but is there anything else I could do?
Doing that lot, you'll be the perfect daughter, and she'll be delighted with you. If she isn't already, which I suspect she probably is.
QUOTE(sarah-flute @ Jul 1 2006, 11:07 PM)

Motion propised, seconded and carried, I think you have got it down pat and I think she will appreciate your efforts enormously!
And I'll third it (as others have already seconded it!)

Thanks. I dunno, I just want to be there for her - she even came to my concert tonight, even though I did say that if she'd rather work, I wouldn't be insulted. I don't think her school is going to do too well, to be honest, and I just want her to do well - most people I know that have had her say that she's a good teacher (and I didn't pressure them to say that!) but she might not always tick all the right boxes for OFSTED. Anyone else got similar experiences?

I'm afraid my brief stint as a classroom teacher was before OFSTED was around in its current form.
My mother-in-law was a teacher, though, before she retired. She thought OFSTEDs were a total pain in the elbow. But she just carried on doing her lessons, writing up the lesson plans for the inspectors and otherwise ignoring them as much as possible.
Good night Nicki. Good night Barry.

That sounds about right. I agree about the pain in the elbow bit!
What did you teach, Katyjay?

I didn't know you'd been a teacher, katyjay!

My friend who's a teacher pretty much did that in her last inspection.

I wouldn't recommend teaching, personally, so don't worry about it (although you're excellent at explaining circle theorems over the net).
Night Sarah!
