In maths, thirty is pretty much it. So in maths terms I'm way into elderly territory.

Hello!
On the subject of maths, Trebor, I had my intro course at 6th form today. I'll be doing these modules:
C1, C2, D1 (AS)
C3, C4, S1 (A2)
What are they like and should I be tempted to get out whilst I still can?

They're alright. Don't really have much choice in the single A-level because you have to do C1-4. S1 is alright, can be a bit dull. D1 is really easy, but again fairly dull. I'd prefer a Mech module but most people find them harder.

That's pretty much what I concluded. We have to do D1 in L6 and it seems ok-ish, a bit like puzzles really. Then we do M1/S1 in U6. Personally, I'd prefer to do M1 but it's only offered to Physics students.

We were going to stay up, but we've both had virtually no sleep in the past few days so we are going to try to get a few hours. Better than nothing I suppose.

Evening all, just got back from band, I went straight from my piano exam to bath - and it rained from 3:30 till 6 - and I was outside from 3:30 till 6! so i was really soaked - the piano exam went really well - thanks guys for being so supportive - much better than just a tiny voice in my head going " you can do it"! The examiner was realy nice - and despite being soaked from the rain it wasn't a bad exam - and he said i was the only person to sing correctly!

You'll get sick to death of everyone already at the college asking "Is {your dad} your dad?"
My little sister used to get that a lot when she came to the school I'd gone to. And then my second cousin, who's a lot younger, started at the school the year after I left, but has the same first initial as me, and the staff kept calling her my name by mistake.

I am already! Especially when they feel the need to comment on me/him/his lessons or tutorials. I think it's got good points - I found him earlier and asked him to make a docs appointment for me, instead of me having to do that myself. Half the teachers seem to know me though, even though I don't have a clue who they are!

Didn't bother my sis. Biggest problem came when the teacher told me that my dear sibling had spent the entire lesson sitting in a stationery cupboard! I had so much effort not to laugh at the sheer madness of it while this grumpy teacher gave me an ear-bashing...

Yes, but it's different for parents. It's like, how can my dad discipline students if his own daughter breaks all the rules, so I'm going to be reasonably well-behaved. Don't think they have any handy stationery cupboards at college. The workload seems huge though.

Rainbow, my advice to you is that you need to concentrate on being Emma, not "Emma's Dad's Daughter". I'm sure you're not the sort to go round breaking rules anyway, but do that for yourself, not for your dad.
Workload always sounds a lot when you're told about it beforehand. Just remember that if it is too much, don't suffer in silence, ask for help.

Sound advice, Katyjay! My parents don't pressure me but all my school teachers expected me to be outstanding at history because my parents are history teachers and the pressure was so bad that, although I love history, I have very mixed feelings about doing it for A level.

That's the great thing about the next couple of years. You'll start to find out a lot more about who you are, not who your parents' daughter is. If you love history, go on and study it. But don't do it just to fit with others' expectations of you.

Ok, I'll do what I want, if I can work out what I want. The history taster was quite good, the teacher was really good, some of the topics seem really interesting and others seem quite boring but I can't stand history exams and the course is 100% exam. I've got my RS taster tomorrow and my friend said that they spent the taster discussing big questions, which sounds ace, as I love big questions. I could always do RS instead of history *confuzzled*
Anyway, night night everyone.

I'm not bad thanks! We had a bit of an evenful night at cadets.
We've recently had a new front door fitted, with an unusually large frame where the door meets the ground. There is then a step, and then another drop to the asphalt parade ground. A cadet was in a hurry, going out of the building, when he tripped. He put his hands out to stop him, and his whole bodyweight went onto his wrist. It made quite a crunch, and we think it's been broken. God, he was in so much pain. It wasn't fun to sit with him while his parents rushed over to take him to casualty

Shame they withdrew first aid from basic cadet training.

Oh dear, that sounds rather nasty. Trouble is, even with first-aid training there's a limit to how much you can do in a situation like that. Getting to casualty fast as possible really is the priority, and it sounds like his parents did just that.
