The theme is gorgeous. My dad loves it too. I was playing it earlier. I got the music out of an issue of "Pianist" magazine lol.
I can play the first bit of the theme but don't like the second bit so put a little ending in the middle of it which is what I now play when someone asks me to.

I see. I've heard that the oboe is rather hard to play, it's one of those instruments where the basic techniques take a while to perfect.
Yes. The breathing is one tricky thing to do perfectly on a double read, but i LOVE the sound the oboe can make.

Best reason to learn an instrument!
I think one is more likely to practice hard to perfect sound on a "hard" instrument that one really loves, than to work at an instrument which is supposedly easy but which one doesn't much care for.
