Ibrik: one of those stove-top thingies? or something similar? I've heard the word but can't place what it actually means.
A picture of an IbrikQUOTE
I have a little stove-top coffee-maker, creates not perfect but quite good coffee... haven't a clue where it is, caffeine and me have a large falling out so I daren't have something that makes good coffee regularly available.
Stove top pots are quite good actually, very popular in Italy if I'm not mistaken.
The caffeine thing comes as no suprise: it causes one to free up energy reserves. Which, of course, assumes that one has any

. I'm fortunate enough, when I'm at home, to have access to a wonderful coffee shop that roasts coffee on the premises and sells 20 or 30 different sorts of beans for really good prices (just under half those in Whittard's...). They sell Decaff Sumatra coffee which makes a not-unreasonable espresso for decaff - the flavour is just about concentrated enough to make it taste of something. I've yet to find a decaff that can make a pot of filter coffee with body though.

Exactly. Normal person + coffee = zooming round like a mad thing. Me + coffee = about 5 seconds worth of energy and then falling over. Oh well! It makes it a treat when I DO have some, and no doubt saves me money too....!

I don't actually drink
that much coffee, just a couple of cups a day; I just appreciate quality. The free stuff at work is a bit rough, but made using a hideously expensive bean-to-cup espresso machine. Once, when the bean supply ran out, I smuggled in some nice coffee beans and fed it into the machine. My verdict - great machine, bad beans. At home, I have 6 or 8 varieties of coffee kept chilled in the fridge, ground as-and-when. Guess I'm just spoilt

Anyhow, I could ramble on about coffee drinking for quite some time, I'll quit whilst I'm ahead (or was that two or three posts ago...).
Hope your energy levels pick up a bit later

*grin* do you WANT an answer? especially from someone running on less than 4 hours sleep at a generous estimate....
Sounds like you should smuggle good coffee beans into work more often!

I tried to do the same but fell asleep early afternoon and have just woken up. I'm
so tired though, I think I'll still sleep. And sleeping in a real bed seems so luxurious now.

I was going to bed but I've just stumbled upon the most gorgeous hot chocolate recipe ever entirely by accident.
I bought some whipping cream last time I was shopping and needed to use it up. Fancying a hot chocolate, I thought that since milk is just watered down cream I could water down the cream and use it as milk. Not wanting to boil cream (so it wouldn't curdle) I mixed the hot chocolate powder with water and boiled it, then poured it onto the cream; finally, to blend, I used one of those battery powered coffee milk frothers (of which I have three from various christmases).
All I can say - WOW! About 40% cream, whipped using a coffee milk frother, topped up with boiling water mixed with three heaped teaspoons of hot chocolate. It makes a really really really thick hot chocolate that is simply divine.
'night all.

I was REALLY small in y7 and bought the smallest size blazer you could get but shot up in y9 so i got another one and took my old one to the uniform sho; at school. Usually, with everyone elses' stuff, you take it and when it gets sold they give you the money, this takes about 6 months at the most. Mines been over a year, i dont think anyone else who needs second hand blazers is as small as me...

What is it with people and getting chinese GCSE, A level, degree and any other qualification. This whole week I've been bombarded with chinese GCSE this and Chinese GCSE that. I don't think I'm being parinoid or anything, is it becoming fasion? 'cos if it is I'm really regretting the past.
crazy_purple_piano_freak
Aug 30 2005, 12:16 PM
You're Chinese too then i guess....this is a REALLY big surprise for me though, as i came to the UK when i was three so more or less had to relearn chinese though my parents have always spoken it to me at home. Doing the GCSE just gives you another GCSE...lol so i thought i might as well. Some of it really wasnt too hard though...besides, i go to a 'chinese' school (with CD22!!) and loads of people are getting to GCSE level there and they all did so i thought i'd try. Though the school doesnt enter us, i had to enter through MY school and so you have to pay...
