We had this excercise at cadets once where we all had these new radios with numbered buttons on the front where each key had a different note, and we challenged ourselves to find out how to play the YMCA tune.
We had been told by the CO that we COULD NOT unlock the frequency, no matter what we pressed. Well, the radios were quiet all morning...
Until the CO yelled at us - 'Why is no-one answering their ******* radios???'
Hehe, we had unlocked the frequencies.....

Lol, it's been a very long time since you posted here mrbouffant! Noticed your signature... umm, perhaps if you would take the request of... could you start with playing Toccata and Fugue in D Minor by Bach and then the Moonlight Sonata Third Movement by Beethoven, then Chopin's Fantasie Impromptu in C# Minor, then Rimsky-Korsakov's Flight of the Bumblebee, then work your way up through all of Ravel's Gaspard de la Nuit and Miroirs... and perhaps finish off with Sorabji's Opus Clavicembalisticum?

Hi Choddy,
I'm like you in this respect. I hated maths at school. Had a pretty useless teacher and to this day, the scar remains and I still remember her name!
Nonetheless a few years ago I was teaching maths!!! Couldn't believe it! But I told my students because I REALLY struggled with it I can identify with those who are weak at it. Humbling experience...
Doesn't it remind you of piano/violin/french horn ("hard-to-learn" instruments)teachers who are bad at teaching because it had come so "naturally" to them?

Coffee and carrot cake - bit adventurous, eh?
The coffee cake I think is £1, as is the carrot cake, but a coffee and carrot cake is £1.50 - you have to pay for such luxuries!

Hope you enjoy your time at the car boot sale
