Ok - we've just tried to rescue a pigeon, had a good time at orchestra. Trying to decide which Durham college and which Cambridge college to apply to. Need to fill out Cambridge application form this weekend

Durham have colleges? Suppose I'll need to pick one as well then.

Sep 9 2006, 06:17 PM
Yes - I started off liking Hatfield, but then there are like 2000 applicants for about 100 places! So, now, I am thinking of Trevelyan.
Trebor
Sep 9 2006, 06:21 PM
Hmm. I have no idea which ones there are, and since it's fairly unlikely I'll end up going there I can't be bothered to research them...anyone wanna pick one for me?

Well Sarah will say John's, YAP will say Trevelyan!

Oooh uni applications, don't remind me. We got told in assembly the other day that the application process apparently begins for us in 5 months time

I was thinking 6th form was enough for me to handle just now!!

The rooms at Trevs have just been refurbished, so the alumni newsletter tells me. It also has nice daffodils at the right time of year

You have no idea how excited that makes me feel - I can play an alto...(I might even have my own by then).
Ok, musn't jump the gun, need an offer first!

It is most probably a bring-your-own instrument deal, have you checked? If you have your own though, I'm sure you'll be invaluable

Well, I am saving up for one - I think I have about £100 in a savings account and am going to put all my spare money left over per month in it.
I will put Trevelyan, in fact I'll do it right now. It seems lovely, and fewer people apply than Hatfield.

Oh, it is. The bits I've been to at any rate! Durham's a nice place actually. A bit too close to home for uni for me, I'd rather be away from the parents... although being able to hop on the train and be home in half an hour could be an advantage

If they're going to go wrong, they will, and there's b##### all you can do about it; so why not work on the assumption that things will go right, enjoy the excitement of that, and say, "so what" if they don't??

Well, from personal experience it's probably about 50/50 whether things I want to happen actually do. But as long as you remain positive when it doesn't work out, it doesn't matter much. Or so I believe.

We
could say that nothing really matters anyway because we're all just balls on a snooker table - once the cue-ball is struck it's academic - but the response to that is, "you can't always affect what happens in your life, but you
can affect your attitude to it."
