Thats good. How are you? Did you get rid of that terrible cold you had when you left? I suppose half of Portugal has it now.

Yes, I'm back. I'm wearing my Chef's Hat (albeit over a winceyette nightie and pink fluffy slippers, but hey - at least I'm here and raring to go).
Special treat for Sunday brunch:
Light fluffy crepes filled with seasonal fruits and berries, served with a generous blob of organic Greek yoghurt topped with locally produced Acacia honey.or, if you prefer:
Poptarts

Don't you hate it when you've got 2 pieces of coursework to do for tomorrow, and you end up browsing these forums and messing around on Sielius instead?
Noodelz
Sep 4 2005, 01:18 PM
Talking of coursework, I did the impossible! Written tons (that's about 5 weeks of work) all in about 24 hours with little breaks in between. I just hand it in tomorrow and it's like nothing was wrong at all, apart from me being really really tired.

ICT coursework is easy bnut takes a long time. Maths coursework is just annoying because the taecher can't explain it/does not teach

Car ExpertI had a really good teacher in year 8 and another really good one in year 9 - who I've got this year (well, the next two years) as well. We hated her at first, but then she turned out to be really cool and she's one of my favourite teachers, meaning maths is one of my favourite subjects

ICT has pretty low standards though. I mean, somebody made a website in frontpage with a bright blue background (#0000FF!), random cooltext images in the navbar for the links, and using Comic Sans font. They got an A*. :|
Note: this was meant to be a website for a business!

Oh yeah Sue you can have your smoothie by the way!! *Hands over a smoothie with extra raspberries* I think good teachers do make loads of difference, I would really hate Physics if we didn't have a good teacher, and I like Chemistry but our teacher's horrible and patronizing so I don't like Chemistry! My I-forgot-to-hand-n-my-homework excuses are running out too...

A nocturne has an unsual rhythm, with a middle bit that is more dramatic.
I think.

Not only did they have eyes on the backs of their heads, but all were ace shots with a board rubber as well I seem to remember.

Nocturne -> Nocturnal, so I'm presuming they're supposed be mysterious, dreamy etc. The unusual rhythms would add to the mysteriousity, and the dramatic bit...umm...being mauled by some monster while you sleep!
I'll work on a dramatic bit once I've finished my Geography/Biology; the current dramatic bit that I tried doing in about 2 minutes was a bit boring, simple rhythms etc. Guess I can pu some semquaver dodecatuplets in there somewhere!
And thanks for the comments

Also, do the raised sixths/sevenths of minor scales count as modulation in a piece of music? Apparently we need yo modulate somewhere in GCSE compositions to get the higher marks...

I think if they threw board rubbers at children these days the teachers would get sacked.

I guess so, but I remember the flying board rubbers, and pieces of chalk too! And real ink in the ink-wells, and dip-pens. And the cane and the slipper (not that I got any you understand!). And slates....well perhaps not that far back...

I see we went to the same school.
And there were no school lunches either, you had to either make the same journey home and back at lunch time (which of course was only 30 mins long), or survive on old crusts your Mam had packed up for you in a red spotted hankie on a stick, and a few wild berries collected from the Forest of the Mires on the way, taking care to avoid the goblins and trolls that lived there and were also short on lunch.

Not necessarily...our chemistry teacher threw one at this girl in y7, but she cried and went to our head of year and he had to apologise..

I suppose it would only be very serious if it caused bad damage....which is unlikely because board rubbers nowadays are polystyrene...
