Oh my goodness! Today is my off day - the kids are more or less asleep with hubby. I sit here thinking about poor Oddball suffering in the heat and humidity and then! Wow! A SUDDEN thunderstorm and it is POURING now. Had to rush downstairs just now to rescue my picnic mat from the garden.
Hi Oddball, is it raining now at your place?
Oh Z, hee, hee, you may stop your evil cackling now.

Sept 13 - I have checked - is a mostly cloudy but DRY day in London. It'll only RAIN the following 3 days after the parade. Hurray!

What about the terrible folly of booking a victory parade on the
13th?
Not the weather, the
date! It means England is doomed to lose the Ashes! (as usual)

NUS card = National Union of Students or something like that. IT gets you 10% off in some shops if you're between 16-18 (and possibly in Post 16 education). See www.nusonline.co.uk, or for the card I am getting www.nusonline.co.uk/associate

When I misjudged the weather the other week and arrived for my lesson soaking wet my teacher found it highly amusing....
It's a 40 minute walk (though if it's really wet when it's time to go I drive) so I don't normally take a coat or I get too hot.

Hi Nicky,
You don't want to stick a photo you dislike on your NUS card as it can last for 3 or 4 yrs depending on the duration of your course!

Can you do a re-take? Or, have you already stuck it on the card?

I am just lucky my passport photo looks decent. In the past it looked terrible! So I tried to think of something funny - can't remember what it was now - and laughed kind of chuckly in my heart when the flash went! Luckily, it worked!
If it's any consolation, when you travel in Europe and espy Switzerland, they sometimes don't even bother to look inside for your handsome or otherwise stony face at all. Just hold it out for them to see the EU thingy and they may simply wave you past. Not in Moscow though! They were ghastly. They stared at me and then at my photo repeatedly for so long that I recall feeling distinctly uncomfortable! Aaargh!
