Hello!
Yes, falling on an open hand could be nasty (whether on ice or not), you could end up with a Scaphoid Fracture (which is what I am suspected of having) 6-8 weeks at least in a cast if you do.
Just a question, what's the deal with all the underlining of words?
nicki_flute

What underlining?

Kayla, are you sure about that? Is your system doing something funny?

Good thanks... seem to have let the morning slip away somehow though.
I got up a bit late then went to Hyde with hubby so that I could call in the music shop for a couple of things I needed. After that is was brew time.
Must get in some decent practice this afternoon.

Hello everyone!!
Urgh... I have chior tomight, our conducter's swapped us all around for one song and now I'm singing alto instead of sop 1. Wouldn't be a problem, but I seem to be the only one on my part that is actually singing the right thing. Most of them are singing the tune

But in a way it is quite good not singing the tune, I have a sore throat and it's Walking in the Air which would sound really bad if I sung it at the moment.

Hi everyone (again)
But quite in here tonight, isn't it?!
Just a bit of advertising (no room to put it on my signature!!) The band I play with are doing a celidh on New Years Eve at the Weyhill Fariground hall in Andover, Hampshire. We did it last year as well and it's a really great night, good food (me and my mum are helping with it), good music and dancing (possibly not so good later on in the evening!!) All proceeds are going to Hampshire Autistic Society, pm me if you would like more details, or they should be on the website some time soon!! www.wyverndanceband.co.uk

Hey, I know it might feel like that, but I'm sure you're not. It's probably just that you're being very self critical of yourself. And we all have bad days and I bet there's other people in the orchestra feeling exactly the same and thinking how good your playing is and wondering why they can't play that well.
nicki_flute
Nov 8 2006, 08:41 PM
Well it doesn't help I am a flute, so every sound I make is heard...and I am rubbish and can't play the solos - last week I "needed help" and I "should be able to play this like now". Um...it's not that I can't play it, it is just that I can't follow him

If the rest of the orchestra can keep to the tempo change does it help to use your ears to keep in time rather than just struggling to follow the conductor?
Tell me to shut up if that's something you've already tried.

Well the problem is, it's just me and some strings.
and all the rhythm is which I get stuck on is
crotchet rest, crotchet, crotchet, SO IT'S NOT EVEN HARD! And what do I do? Stuff it up. I come in on the downbeat rather than waiting.

Maybe you could ask him to indicate when you come in, by either putting a stress on the beat you come in, looking at you, pointing at you or doing some other gesture to indicate this.
