Was just thinking that hehe...
Ergh. I'd love a distinction as I've never got one, but I am not sure.
The only one I ever got was grade 1 clarinet (and all my theory exams).
I've only had merit twice too and that was only just both times.
Well I got one in Grade 5 theory, out of grade 1-5 with AB, I got 2 lowish merits and 1 high. But I don't think of myself as being good enough

I think it's just I got told "it's suprising how a player of your calibre does *this* *demonstrates how I played*". However, I didn't hear it like she was playing it. Basically, my internal metronome is terrible, and I've been playing for 9 years *blames first year of tuition and never using a metronome*

I'm missing the internal metronome as well (I
was actually reduced to tears in a lesson a month or so ago

). We should start a "Lost: one internal metronome" club...
But try not to worry too much about it; just focus on a) improving it, and b ) the aspects of your playing that you
are good at (which I'm sure is loads

)
And do just think about January, when you'll have finished G8, your Cambridge interview will be over, and you'll probably have all your offers in.

I could have cried...I was just trying to so hard.
January - well apart from my module exam and huge coursework deadlines, I suppose I'll have responses from unis. But they could be 3 rejections.
