I fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinally got that when I got to uni. It was good

I finally got that when I came on these Fora. Nice atmosphere

. Oh, and when I went to the 6th form there were 7 of us doing A-level further maths who used to spend lunch times discussing various aspects of maths and other such areas. Frankly, I'd have gone insane or reclusive by now if it wasn't for AP.
Even amongst PhD students, who are stereotypically geeky, there are still those who organise social drinking events and are surprised that AP and I aren't interested, and those who regard our hobbies as some sort of waste of time.

Can't wait for that! At the moment I'm really looking forward to going to 6th form college, where hopefully things will be a bit better! I just feel like hardly anyone 'gets' who I am. In some places I feel like I'm too brainy / geeky and in other places I don't feel brainy enough so I'm just very confused atm!

Luckily for me, where I live is one of the few places still to use the 11+. So I go to one of the nicer grammar schools around. It still doesn't get rid of all troublemakers etc., but the atmosphere and attitudes (particularly in the top sets) are very good.

GRRR...i have SO MUCH coursework!

The first term of Year 11 (I think that's where you're at) involved the most work I've EVER done. Generally I coast through with minimal effort but the sheer quantity of coursework involved (7 silmultaneously at one point) was just too much to do that, and I did really have to knuckle down to get it all finished.

I'm just in a normal state school but I am in top sets for the subjects in which we are still set (we're not set for options anymore). Maths and science are quite good but the atmosphere in Lifeskills is pretty bad!

I am a bit annoyed, my friend asked me whether I'd like to go to this barn dance on Friday to raise money for charity. I reluctantly agreed because I don't like dancing, and I have just looked at the ticket and it is for a fox hunting thing and I am against fox hunting. Grr.

Yup...I just googled this
Queen Victoria became Queen on 20/6 /1837 and was crowned on 28/6/1838
Queen Elizabeth became Queen on 6/2/1952 and was crowned in June 1953
Well done, janexxx.

That's absolutely right. English constitution law was my forte! Sorry, folks, please forgive me for boasting just this once, OK? Scored a distinction for this at A levels over 20 years ago. Yet, I was forced to take it again as compulsory at university level - can't remember why. Oh dear, am I that old...
Anyway, here goes... By our law the heir to the throne becomes monarch the very moment the other earlier monarch drops dead. The King/Queen never dies in English constitutional law. It is invariably a sad-and-happy moment. Looking back on our history, it has often been a happy-happy moment!

*Phew, managed to get rid of him at last! And yipee, I am now king! No one can touch me now* But before long, he got touched, too!

AAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! MY INTERNET CONNECTION KEEPS ON DISCONNECTING! GRRR....

Sep 14 2005, 07:59 PM
"All fixed speed control safety cameras are designed to measure the speed of approaching vehicles, or departing vehicles, or both, depending upon the type of camera.
They are calibrated so that vehicles travelling within the speed limit are invisible. Only vehicles travelling above the limit are seen and photographed by the camera.
Gatso cameras are activated as the vehicle crosses a radar beam and takes two photographs half a second apart, whilst Truvelo cameras are activated as the vehicle travels over sensors in the roads. On-board computers instantly calculate the distance travelled between the two points. "

In my experience, the ones that generally mean well for people don't get very far in politics, and even if they do they crumble under the pressure of all the outside influences involved in running a government.
