Christmas Eve. But I'm teaching before that and I have a lesson too.
Then New Year's Eve and a big regional church service on New Year's Day.

That'd be good. I enjoy playing Christmassy pieces with my pupils at this time of year. It doesn't feel quite the same if 'Jingle Bells' comes up in the tutor book in mid summer.......

Hehe, yes. Trouble is a few flutes can only play from bottom line E to top line F and just making each note speak is an achievement. Not sure what to try there, maybe long notes so I play the carol over it. I've tried Razzamajazz with all of them and they all love it. Good revision as well but in a fun way.

I had a singing lesson like that this week. Partly. First we looked at "Have yourself a merry little Christmas", and I got earache for singing it like Bing Crosby and not Tony Bennett
(I haven't heard either of them sing it. And Bing Crosby's a bit dead nowadays...)And then I was told I had to sing the recitative and aria "Care Compagne" from Bellini's "La Sonnambula" as Tony Bennett too
And then my teacher said "What's happened to your voice?" And while I tried to think of a rude retort he said "That's the best I've ever heard you sing"
Still a bit mindboggled at that lot....

Probably your tone was improving but your perception was greater as a result. Wye comments on this psychology at the start of his Tone book. As tone improves you get more critical so it sounds worse.

I printed, guillotined, folded and inserted the labels on the CDs I'd made for family Christmas presents. My hands are now covered in black ink and paper cuts.
