This is certainly keeping you out of mischief Barry.

Aw, you do so much for the forums Barry

Buy a Forum CD, when it's out. Only £5. It'll be good.

The school I teach at today has just recruited a new singing teacher. They said I had a Midlands accent. Which is interesting, seeing as I've never lived in the Midlands.......

WTF is a "midlands" accent?
Is it where all the accents from the far-flug regions of the UK (West Country, Wales, North, Yorkshire, Scotland, Geordie, Norfolk etc.) all meet in the middle to form some kind of dialect muddle?

East Midlands accent? Hmm... it fluctuates severely across the region. Although I would say it is like the "Ey up m'duck" style that the dinner ladies used to use. I can't really say too much, despite living in the East Midlands, because my accent fluctuates on a daily basis for some odd reason. Although, I must say that 'grass' still stays 'grahss' and not 'grarrss'.
Term's going slowly? It's going really quickly for me - no time to do anything! Deadlines are too soon too! But I guess that's A Levels...

That's because you haven't been through the 'Secret Academy of Dinner Lady Elocution'. Then again, I haven't either, thus why I don't say that either!
But seriously, its probably because your parents weren't born in the East Midlands, and quite a lot of your school friends probably didn't have parents born in the East Midlands either. So your accent would be all jumbled and mixed. To develop a true accent, a) Your family must have lived in the region for generations and/or b)The local accent is really strong and prevalent.
You fluctuate between grAHss and grARss? That's quite funny! It's the one thing my accent is restricted to - if I try to say grARss, I just sound pretentious! However, I do occasionally say 'water' the way my Dad does, in a sort of 'cockney' way, i.e. "wor'er"! My Dad isn't a cockney by the way, he just spent his Uni days there and that's probably why he says water like that...

I tried to give it in at lunchtime, but they said the people who took the photos already left, so I have to wait 4 weeks or so for the photos to arrive into school, so I'm still with the form on the table...

Hi everyone!
Took my Science modules, and I think they went OK

. They completely messed it up, though, because they told me I was not retaking any modules, then I found out I was retaking two, so I didn't revise for them (ended up taking four in total instead of two). I wasn't the only one - one of my friends were in the same boat as me, and another friend was told they were retaking Modules 4 and 9 and he said he was revising Module 9 the most, then he ended up getting Modules 4 and 7 instead.

As a result, I missed my guitar lesson unexpectedly...

I'm back home! Saturday was eldest son's birthday, I was determined to be there for his party and hung on at home for as long as I could before contacting the out-of-hours GP. I was then sent to Addenbroke's Hospital and ended up on a ward with drips hanging out of my arm in the wee small hours on Sunday morning.
One endoscopy later complete with diagnosis and having convinced the doctors I was ready to go home, I was let out.
So no heavy partying for me! Gastritis, Stomach Ulcers and mild Anaemia have put pay to that. One small consolation at least in hospital I was able to rest my right wrist so there's no pain in there now.
