Yesterday, about 3 o clock he asks me to sort out a score for our rehearsal, today! And gives me a recording to check the transpositions against, because he didn't believe me when I told him they were right in the first place. The recording is in a different key to the score.

He should do it himself!
Rosemary7391
May 23 2007, 06:45 AM
He should, but then it would be in the wrong key knowing him! And transposing on the spot isn't a skill thats any of us have got very far with....

It's like a music exam - you've done all you can, now you just have to relay that to the examiner... you'll be fine

May 23 2007, 08:44 AM
Flute exams seem less nerve wracking
Miss Ross
May 23 2007, 08:46 AM
Just stay calm and remember all you've been taught. By the sounds of it you've been doing really well, you said you drove 42 miles yesterday

.
nicki_flute
May 23 2007, 08:47 AM
Well, it's taken me nearly a year to get this far.
Miss Ross
May 23 2007, 08:50 AM
You've had loads of practice then, and time to perfect everything! Just go for it....you'll gain so much from doing it. and when you look back you'll wonder what you were so worried about

May 23 2007, 09:30 AM
Are you still here Nicki? - sorry. I had to get the bus to school

...
See, there you go - you wouldn't have to get the bus any more!
Are there a lot of tricky spots to drive around where you are? That's one of the good things about learning to drive up here - there aren't even any dual carriageways until you're about 30 miles south

Yes, I am...

No, round where I live it's quite nice to drive.

Yehhh,

it would be good.
I'm trying to be positive.
ChevvyChev
May 23 2007, 09:45 AM

positiveness and relaxation are the key...remember it's the examiners descretion as to whether you pass to, so even if something minor does go wrong through nerves or whatever, as long as you keep calm, control the car and stay safe you can still pass

(like me lol....the test I passed was the worst I'd ever driven!)
GO FOR IT!! show them what you can do, and make sure you text me!!!

I'm going to leave my phone at home, so I probably won't be home until 3ish.
I know I am certainly a better driver than I was 6 weeks ago.
ChevvyChev
May 23 2007, 09:57 AM
There you go

you have more experience and are more comfortable "behind the wheel" (eeek, that was cringey!) so you are more likely to pass

and once you've passed you'll see yourself improve really really quickly again

You've gotta warn everyone near you to stay off the roads for a few weeks now, though
You could always get chocolate And scream (preferably not at the same time

Well done Nicki!!
Quick, someone tell me what the range of a trumpet is!!?? Please!!
nicki_flute
May 23 2007, 05:47 PM
The trumpet is pitched in the soprano range and has a normal chromatic range from F-sharp below middle C to C above the treble clef. Experienced performers are able to extend the upper range, often to the G above the high C (or higher). The trumpet in C is a non-transposing instrument, the trumpet in B-flat has the same written range, but sounds a step lower.
Thanks!

I liked the phone call. Sorry about my rubbish signal here! Who was the pianist? They were AMAZING.
Yeh, I did! It's cool because it doesn't have parking bays so I just parked parallel to this car.
