A heatwave? That was my best handbag voice by the way. That would be rather nice but it will play havoc with the ponies. They have just started to grow winter coats.

Hello everyone (again)

Just found out that my friend won't be able to get his violin mended (He was in a car crash and the neck has snapped and there's a crack down the body by the soundpost). The work would cost £2200 and although they think it may be worth it, it's only insured for £1500 because he only bought it for £800!! Although there is something iffy in that when he bought it he was told to insure it for £1500 and now apparently that work is worth doing, meaning it must be worth about £3000, which seems a big difference and a massive underestimate. The violin really suited him as well, it was so nice

Hi Devil_Fiddler - never too sure about quotes for work myself. It's such a 'closed shop' that I remain quite sceptical.......might be worth getting a second opinion but failing that, presumably he will get the costs of the violin back from insurance?

Yeah, I think so. Also, right after the crash he was quite ready to accept that the violin was gone, but when there was a chance it got his hopes up, only now to find out it can't be done.

Oh dear. The instrument may never be the same again after such extensive repairs anyway. Hope he's ok after the car crash.
Yeah, he's pretty much recovered now, it's just been all the paperwork for the insurance and loss of income. I think he's already thinking about getting another violin, though it may be hard to find one that suits him as well. He's also looking for a new sax because that got dented so it distorted one of the holes and is definately beyond repair.
I'm going for lunch now, thanks for talking

I don't blame you! This week has flown by for me. We had a bank holiday here on Monday, I had a half day annual leave on Wednesday morning to visit the place I will be working in soon, and today we finish at 4pm! Then it's the weekend!
I saw some pictures in the paper recently about the sea turning to foam! Did you hear about that? They were amazing pictures!
**Kettle's on, fire's lit! It's all very cosy here today!**
