No I'm not boarding, I've just started a gap year at Ripon Cathedral as organ scholar. I had an organ lesson today which was mainly ok but I got some asked some really obvious questions which i couldn't answer so felt really stupid, then I was let out late so was late for meeting the headmaster (though he was absolutely lovely about it). And the assistant organist is away for the whole of one weekend in september playing recitals so I have to play all 4 services including the longest psalm (and they're hard) plus two more, and then he's away the saturday after and I need to get to the end of this sentence now before I burst because i am so stressed because there are so many things i thought i was good at but in fact can't do....
I'd love a drink.
Hiya,
I'm not an organist but a friend of mine was in a similar position last year (and she had just finished her degree in organ!) and was totally stressed out of her mind, but got to grips with it in time! Its really hard that you have been chucked in at the deep end, but you're obviously v talented...I'm sure you'll be great! And if you do make mistakes don't worry about it. No matter what anyone says, everyone makes mistakes when they are starting a new job.
Good luck!!!
