I actually liked quadratic equations -strangely satisfying (couldn't do one now to save my life I suspect though...) - but we never got to draw smilie faces *sniff sniff* sad.gif

As for the quadratic equation thing, I prefer to use the -(b±√b²-4ac)/2a = x formula to the factorisation formula - I don't know why, but it seems a lot simpler to me! For expanding brackets, I do firsts, then first/second, then second/first, then the lasts, if you get what I mean! biggrin.gif

Morning all. My foot hurts sad.gif. Can't believe it is Friday and I have my flute lesson today. One of my frees today is taken up by an enrichment class for tutor time (I chose card making happy.gif ). But I'd rather have a free - I have lots of work which isn't even relating to my A Levels to do - namely Key Skills and General Studies.

Enrichment class? rolleyes.gif like you don't have enough things to do with your time! Ho hum. I know a lot of people end up not bothering with stuff for General Studies etc because they just have too much on their plates already, and most unis don't accept GS anyway. Seems silly to make you do it...

It's for financial reasons. Schools and colleges get money if students take General Studies. Sad, but true. sad.gif

Everything by everything, yes so if you have:

(x+2)(x+5) just for an example, you would get:

xx +2x +5x +10

x squared +7x +10

The other thing I like about just multiplying 'everything by everything' is that it works when one has more terms to deal with, for example:

(a + b + c) (d + e + f)

= a (d + e + f) + b (d + e + f) + c (d + e + f)
= ...

I much prefer learning the proper technique straight off than having to re-learn a new one later on.
