[For those who are confused: mufti is, traditionally, a term for civilian dress worn by people who are normally expected and/or entitled to wear uniform.
I wasnt just confused, i was CONFUZZLED!!

Lou's school doesnt do that either apparently...mine only does because its for charity and all that and we care supposedly very charitable. We organised something for Macmillan Coffee Morning last week too.

My headteacher wants all of us to look the same (I go to an all boys school!) because our hair isn't allowed to be too short or too long, our ties all have to be at least 2/3 the length of our torso, and our top buttons permanently done up even until we get home. The headteacher drives around the school area after school to see if boys are doing this. (A friend of mine was walking into his road when the headteacher drove past, saw him, stopped, got out, and told him to do his tie and top button up and tuck his shirt in, and THEN put his blazer back on. This isn't normal is it?!?!?!?!

ROBOTS CHODDY!!!!!!!!

I go to an all girls school but its down the road from an all boys school!

(lol so whats the point??

) But they're not THAT bad on you...though last year at Christmas on the last day we had to go to carol service at a local church and my friend had a bobble in her hair that was red and had santas head on it and she got told to take it off because it was 'too cheerful'

My dad, a secondary school assistant head, drives past a few bus stops on the way to work each morning. He notes down, mentally, any students who have their shirts un-tucked and reprimands them appropriately when he gets to school

.
Our headteacher once explained to us, though, that he wasn't personally over-concerned with uniform but the number of complaints the school got from residents of the town if anyone was ever improperly dressed made it necessary to be strict.

Quadratics...yes we love it!!!!
Thanks - I was confused with the whole smilies thing. Now I know what you're all talking about :rolleyes; well, not the smilies, but the maths bit...
I don't remember how to do them, but wobby, your method sounds familiar for the brackets at least, I'm sure we just did "you multiply everything by everything"

We didn't have smilie faces in my day...
*hobbles off leaning on her stick*
G'night, I mean really goodnight!

Everything by everything, yes so if you have:
(x+2)(x+5) just for an example, you would get:
xx +2x +5x +10
x squared +7x +10
Yes something like that. We did a piece of coursework on them, using them to design curves for rollercoasters!
I really liked algebra at school...

Nicki, I'm so sorry to hear that

But the thing is, how can they predict after just 5 weeks. The thing is they can't!! We're having minimum expected grades based on my GCSE results...I can kind of guess what they'll be.
On a positive note, I got an A for an essay I did

Things like that are shocking when they happen to someone who's in any way connected with you even if you don't know them

Three people that I know of died in my 4th year at uni: one I didn't know at all, one was in my college, and one was in one of my classes. All of them were horribly shocking, even the one who no-one I knew knew. The chap from my class was actually killed when someone pushed him off an embankment, I think - I don't remember the details. He was a really nice guy though not in my year (some of us did a beginners' SerboCroat course with a class of 2nd years) and it was a small class, so though we 4th years didn't know him that well it was very horrific and shocking.

i better do well in Music with like a C or something, otherwise i'll flip!
P.S. the grade i got for Geography was averaged out of the grades i got from each teacher, a C, a D and an E :-\

On a different note... I got all A*s, As and Bs for GCSE English language and lit... my first A Level essays I was getting Ds! I got an A overall by the end of 6-2... so getting bad grades after so few weeks means very little.

Sarah - Yes, he just died of unknown causes, just collapsed and died. Everyone was in shock this morning, especially my tutor who was teaching him when it happened. My ex Maths teacher had to go home because he was so distressed today - he had to do mouth to mouth on him.
