Hi everyone [friendly wave]

I wonder if anyone can help me? My Grade 6 singing exam is coming up soon, and it's likely to be w/c 20 June. Unfortunately my teacher's usual accompanist has a very busy week booked, and he is unlikely to be able to accompany me.

I don't have the date or time of the exam yet, but I need to find (and rehearse with) someone who can accompany a rather nervous and inexperienced singer (i.e. me!) I've only ever performed once at the Adult Learners Concert back in February, and once before for my Grade 5 exam.

If anyone reading is interested, or can recommend someone to me, then I would be very very grateful. I'm not looking for a "freebie", so let me know your rates, terms & conditions etc.

The venue is most likely to be Eastbourne, but possibly Tunbridge Wells. I live partway between the two.

My pieces are:

Alma Del Core Caldara
Dein Blaues Auge Brahms
It Was A Lover Rubbra
Far From The Home I Love (Fiddler on the Roof) Bock

Fingers crossed that someone can help.

I'm sorry I can't help but I hope you sort something out soon smile.gif - I know what it's like to be unsure about who's accompanying when you're already anxious about the exam anyway.
Amber
Thanks Andy,

I guess Northern Ireland to Eastbourne is a bit of a long trek!

Amber - I wish I could help.

I'm about an hour and a half from Eastbourne by public transport, and would be happy to do it if it happened to be when I'm not teaching - but it all depends on timetabling.

If you are still looking when you get your date and time confirmed, send me an e-mail and I'll get back to you.

Have you looked in the Yellow Pages? Sometimes accompanists put adverts in there. That's where I found my soon-to-be piano teacher.
Amber
Thank you KatyJay and Purple Dolphin for those suggestions. Also thank you Maggie for your very kind offer.

Until I know the exact time/date I feel a bit stuck. All I know is that my teacher requested "no later than w/c 20th June".

What is the normal length of time before exams that students are notified? I'm just a bit worried that the letter may have gone astray in the post.

Happy weekend everyone smile.gif

I would have thought that if it was going to be in that week you really should have heard by now. Try ringing the AB on Monday - they were very helpful when i rang- even though I didn't have my teacher's applicant no. they still managed to tell me the date & time of my exam.
Amber
Thanks Andy,

I'll give that a go. I'm also concerned that the date/time might clash with my client work, and if so I need to have as much time as possible to try and reschedule sessions with them. I'll ring my teacher to see if he can give my his applicant number too, which will help.

Many thanks
