I am entering grade 5 exam next Thursday and i want to know the required tempo for scales, arpeggios and the chromatic scales.
In theseMusicExams book, it is written that the metronome marking is 64 for a half note. I don't know whether this means that one metronome beat equals four notes or two notes or eight notes or what???
Advice please....
Thanks,
Khaled

Hi Khaled
The marks mean:
Scales: 4 notes (quavers) to the metronome beat.
Broken chords and arpeggions: 2 notes to the metronome beat.
Good luck next week.

Since the scales for grade 5 piano are three octaves and you may be accenting them in threes, you might find it helpful to play them at 85 three notes to a tick (which is the same speed).
