is there any way to make sightreading easier?
purple pianist
The way i did it was practise, practise, and more practise!!!! Play stuff that you really like but thats is what i did (i used 2 b rubbish) and you have to learn no matr how hard it is that you have to keep going without correcting yourself, i used to be rlly bad at that. Just keep piking up music doesn't matr how hard and playing it thru 1nc.

Sorry if thats not v helpful
Keep trying and good luck!!

hi musicrox. im janets daughter and usually as a warm up before practicing id picked up any music bk atall that had a tune that caught my eye in it and id just play for me for a while. As well as being enjoyable it helped a lot with my sight reading and got me playing more. hope this helps. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Just take a bunch of literature you have not played and sight read. Also, look at the key/time signature and develop a tempo before you start playing

Hi!!

there have been a lot of discussions on sight reading, and really the only way to improve is to play anything and everything!!!just pick up a piece of music u have lying around that you havent played before and play it!!in the exam make sure you check the key sig, time sig and any speed markings. also look for any accidentals in the piece or tricky parts. in the 30 secs you get always try the ending for a good finish!

basically i would say there is only 1 way and that is to play and play!!! i did and now although i dont like sight reading i have got a lot better! biggrin.gif

hope this helps
