Hey everyone, my violin exam's on next Tuesday...( finally...) and I 'm feeling so negative about it...I just can get the scales right!! And the pieces....my accompanist ain't matching well with me.....and my sight-reading on the violin is terrible...Gosh I just don't think I can pass it.... sad.gif

In some cases before an exam it is better to give it a rest for a day, otherwise you'll over practice and it won't sound as good. Work on your scales for the moment, and don't over play the pieces smile.gif

It sounds to me as though you're trying to do too many things at once. Calm down a bit, and perhaps focus one practice session on just scales, one on just one of your pieces, and so on. Try not to feel so negative as I'm sure you'll do well if you just try to enjoy it! biggrin.gif

smile.gif Hi, good luck to you on your exam - just think on how good your standard is to mine rolleyes.gif complete novice, wish I was where you are now!

Good luck anyway!

Yes good luck to you. You probably can pass if your teacher allowed you to enrol for it, or if you decided that you should do it, seeing that you are very talented on the piano. Maybe it's just that you were busy practicing more on the piano.

I wonder why? Is it that the playing position (or hand) is not as comfortable for you as on the piano? Or is it because you feel you can never get it to sound in tune as easily?

You will be just OK. GOOD LUCK !!!! smile.gif smile.gif

Yes exactly!! Actually both...my violin teacher kept saying that my hand position is not right and I'm always out of tune for the scales and sometimes even the pieces.
At some fast music, I suffer because I couldn't get it right!! ( for the exam, it's A3 -grade6- please have a look at that if you guys have the music) I always screw up at the semi-quaver bits....It's never comportable to cross the strings at fast parts!!

Oh no....I think I'll fail..... sad.gif sad.gif sad.gif

Yes, unfortunately I think you are right.....I felt that I played the piece much worse ( the fast one especially) than I use to....maybe I'm really over practicing...I got it a week ago but I just keep screwing it up today( and exam's 3 days later) ....should I not practise the pieces anymore or should I still practise it?? ( but it's sounding really badly controlled)......gosh I never have that problem on the piano!!
