I had my exam today and I played everything perfect accept my first piece (musette) I got mixed up in the fith bar which confused me so the tempo was out the window.

But the part I worried about most was the sight reading and I flew through it.

My examiner was quite friendly.

And I think I passed (well.... more like hope)

Did anyone else do an exam today?

If yes , how did it go?

I cant believe that I have to wait for about 3-4 weeks for my results!!!!!!!!!

I so glad you said that because there was a pianist playing the exact same pieces as you are when I arrived.

Then this grade 8 pianist went in, they sounded amazing.

Ive been trying all day to remember if you said when you were getting your exam today.

Is this your first exam?

grade 8 saxophone and grade 6 clarinet

Do you want to know the hardest piece of advice, to follow, that my teacher gave me today?!.........

Dont concentrate on the bit you done wrong, concentrate on the bits you done right.
saxlover
But if you are in my shoes then you can't concentrate on anything because nothing is right
micky-d
I hate my nerves.

Everybody else gets nerves before they go in but noooo... I get mine in the middle of my first piece!!!

I think that that is why I messed the first piece up.

I also think that that is why when the examiner asked what my pieces were I said for my :
A : "MUSETTE"
B : "bacarolle"
C : "MUSETTE" then quickly changed it to GET IN STEP. rolleyes.gif

Believe it or not I know how that feels thanks to my first piece ( but then I went down the stairs into the music shop and played it perfectly on the piano... ohmy.gif I was kicking myself all the way back to school)

I went with a couple of people from my school (we get the same teacher) and we got there too early so our teacher took us to get a cup of coffee on her!!! It cost her around about £30!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And then one of my friends spilled it over herself!!!

Here's how my Grade 2 exam went for people who are interested:

- Arabesque (Bürgmuller): Some semiquavers weren't even. Didn't do last chord correctly but the examiner did ask me to play the chord again!
- Kabalevsky Waltz: Went perfect
- Get In Step: Perfect again

- Scales: G major; RH A major; LH B minor
- Contrary: E major
- RH chromatic
- Arpeggios: LH D major; RH E minor (nearly played E major by mistake!); LH B minor

- Aural was fine!
