My violin teacher is so strict......she would make me practise again and again even if I just make some minor mistakes.......she would scold me if I do not practice well.........a very strict and demanding teacher......

I just wonder are all teachers like that......

Hey! Well if your teacher is that strict talk to her or to your parents about it! The last thing u want is somebody to put u off music!

Hi musicforever,I think my piano teacher is the same like your teacher. She wouldn't give you another chance to playback. If I don't practise, she will complain and complain it to my mother.

Neither my violin or piano teachers are like that. Theyre both rlly nice and i practise hard for them because i want to!!!
They do make me play stuff over but you make it sound like your teacher shouts at you all the time! Duz she rlly or am i exadgerating? If she duz then i think you should do something about it because you arent going to get very far if she duznt motivate you and you cant play something wrong one day without her yelling at you!!!!!!
Good luck

I feel so lucky now. Both my piano and flute teachers are both nice. If I make a mistake they say "Slow down" or something like that. They never complain to my parents, but I just correct the mistakes by myself

none of my teachers are like that they are really nice!! its usually me who shouts at myself when i do it wrong or something!! then they tell me to calm down!!!
maybe its just violin teachers coz my violin teacher was truly horrible, if i hadnt practised for a certain amount of time each week he would get in a mood and if i hadnt got this bit perfect he would get annoyed!! so i quit!!!

I used to have a horn teacher who was truly horrible! I cried all the time in my lessons because of her. She used to be really nasty and say awful things and then at the very end she would say something about how she 'had to be cruel to be kind' and how she was only being mean to me because I was her best pupil and she thought I wasn't realising my potential. I don't think she actually meant it though, she only said it so I wouldn't tell my parents about her. Eventually I moved to a different teacher who is sooooooo much nicer and really makes me want to practise. If your teacher doesn't encourage and motivate you, I definitely think you should find a new teacher. You will be much happier and inevitably your playing will improve too!

actually, i think a strict teacher > nice one
ha, probably just me, but if you think about it this way, if a teacher gets to the point that s/he gets moody b/c you didn't practice, then s/he probably somewhat cares. and how many ppl are willing to do things for other ppl in life?
oh, and i guess my teacher is ok. i wish she was more . . .eh strict . . . i live up to challenges . . . so long as it's not math
