Nah, my teacher's pretty cool. He's an old man, he's got better things to be doing rather than getting angry (like Getting excited about the Mozart Clarinet Concerto etc.). laugh.gif

My teacher doesn't get angry, she just looks annoyed and irritated and says a lot of things which makes me feel guilty for not practising enough.

Hey,
Well talking about teachers getting angry! Hmm...i actually have lots to say about it. My teacher is this gentleman who has been teaching for the past 41 years, and this is his 42nd year. I have been learning with him from Grade 3. When i was about to give my grade 8 exams, he was very discouraging. Once during practice sessions, i messed up my scales, and my Group A Bach Prelude and Fugue wasn't upto the mark, and that was when he said that he wouldn't be surprised if i failed the exam. He always considers the age of the applicant. Since i'm 15 and will be giving Dip exam this year or next year, he has problems with that. He says that people of my age shouldn't give the dip exams because they need higher potentials and blah blah. Well, i don't generally pay heed to what he says! it's useless anyways tongue.gif But i hate it when he scolds people before their Theory exams. Gosh! it's sooo frustrating and annoying. and i don't know why they do all this. Do they think that by scolding someone just before the exam, they are helping him out with his preparations?

I think they're trying to use a phychological effect, like, if someone says you're doing badly, you'll practice ahrder, or something like that. My teacher nevers says that to ema nd always encourages me to try my hardest.
maybe your teacher didn't get very far until he was a lot older then you and doesn't want to think that his own pupil did better then him.
If he discourages you, then I'm rooting for you! Good luck!

Anyway I have a teacher in my past that always shouting n angrying with me during the lesson, until one day I realize that his typical is always angrying coz he lived alone. but he said to my sister one day that actually I had improve a lot but he didn't want to tell me, n he said that if he said to me I won't practise harder, so he always said that my playing is rubbish. My older sister told me that I had improve a lot when I had not studying with this teacher anymore coz my grade is increase.
But I think if teacher never give a good respons to the student all the time so the student will never mind if he is angrying or not because he is always like that, so the student will think that if his teacher angry so it is common already n it doesn't matter.
If there is teacher saying not a good words n SOMETIMES angry it is common n good for us if we dont do it well for several meeting or several reason. coz it will make the student study harder n realize that they are wrong. but actually angry is not the best way I think. What is the best way is ask the reason why the student cant do it well n give some solusion n not drop the mental of the student.
