i have seen two of the same note being placed on the same line (as they should be) but on the same vertical line. If u dont know what im on about its on Le Onde, of Eiunaudi. Its like when u write a chord, the notes are stacked upong eachother (but there all different notes).....this time its the same note written twice like a chord

I think it means that one's the melody, and one's the accompaniment. You have to emphasise one of them to bring out the tune.

Yeah, you usualy get that in Romantic Piano Music... i believe its called a unison note

where you have the quavers and every other quaver has a crotchet line coming off it as well as well (i think)
