Does anyone have an views as to whether ABRSM or Trinity are better for singing exams? More seems to be required of the Trinity exams but they seem to be better structured.
Any ideas?

Although I've only done two grade exams with ABRSM and a diploma with Trinity, from what I've seen of their syllabuses I'd say there's good and bad points with each.
I think that the ABRSM insistence on memorising is actually a good idea for singers (whereas it's an optional element with Triniy). I think the ABRSM aurals look to be a better supplementary test than the Trinity ones.
I'm not keen on the "technical work" in the Trinity grades syllabus but I do like the idea of a short Viva, and I think their repertoire lists are better than ABRSM, encompassing more 20th and 21st century music.

With Trinity there's a book with all the songs in , and another with all the vocal exercises in, which is convenient (rather than buying separate pieces).
However, Trinity aural tests are harder, with longer tunes to memorize etc., but there is a book with CD to practice them.
With the change to Trinity-Guildhall exams, there may be some changes at some point, but I'm not aware of when.

That's rubbish! You don't need a teacher to be able to enter for exams at any level, as you can enter yourself. And saying you need a LRSM teacher excludes a lot of teachers inluding myself who are qualified in other ways.

Check out the AB's website which will tell you all about the exams. It's possible to take them in the US.
