I've been trawling through the comments people have made on preparing for the quick study.

Lots of people have said that the quick study piece (piano) will be at approximately a Grade 6 standard.

Does anyone know where to find this in the board's regulations? Is it just hearsay, or is it stipulated somewhere in black and white?

I know the DipABRSM (teaching) talks at length about Grade 6 pieces - but does the same hold true for the Performance diploma?

No, it's not hearsay, it's in the Prerequisites and Requirements in Detail section of the relevant Diploma syllabus. DipABRSM is Grade 6, LRSM is Grade 7 and FRSM is Grade 8 in standard.

Thanks andante - that's EXACTLY what I wanted to know! (ans a super speedy response too!)

Having done these 3 diplomas I would agree that the Dip was around grade 6, The LRSM around grade 7 but as for the FRSM - It was the hardest sightreading I have ever seen! Leger lines galore in both bass and treble and we're talking 5 or 6 leget lines for notes and notes - and not in sequence either! Plus 6 sharps followed by 6 flats. Ahh. Going back to the Dip I thought it was very accessible, very musical and even quite enjoyable.
