biggrin.gif Hi Everyone biggrin.gif
Just taken my grade3 theory and it seemed more , no much more, difficult than the past papers Iv'e been using for preparing myself. Has anyone else done g3 and thought this.

i only did gr5 theory. but i went thru books and did practice tests for 1-4. i thought all of 1-3 was quite easy. 5 was the only really difficult 1, 4 was moderate.

sometimes you do seem to get a question asked in a more difficult way.
And sometimes the English is not as clear as it could be.
Working through past grade 2 papers with a student (adult) we came across the wonderful question which asked 'What do you think is....'
Well, technically you can't get that wrong can you!? ph34r.gif

I also only did grade 5 theory and I don't remember it being harder than past papers. In fact, I was quite relieved to find that nothing unexpected came up. Then again, I did revise like an animal before hand which is probably why I got 100%.

Perhaps I should stop telling everybody that I got 100% otherwise people will think I am boasting. By the way, did I mention I got a 100% distinction for grade 5 theory? Oops, slipped out again.

Now then, If I got 100% marks for grade 7 piano, then I could really boast. Somehow I don't think I'll get that. Anyway, well done Plink Plonk Man for doing a theory exam - I'm sure you will do well.

My grade 7 piano is in 9 days time and I'm so bored of the pieces I don't really care if I pass or not just so long as I can do the exam and then forget about the pieces.

Hot 'aint it.

Good luck with your grade 7!

At least you've got the confidence to actually do it!

Quite!
Reminds me of the spoof exam where you needed 50% to pass> The paper consisted of two questions: the first question could be anything at all and the second question was "Do you think you answered the first question correctly ?" Answer No, voila 50% right !

Mike - well done, hope it turns out you did ok ! wink.gif

My daughter did grade 3 this time and she came out in a slight state of shock, saying that it was harder than any of the past papers she'd done. From what she said I think it was because more of the sections than usual were asked "the other way round" - i.e. they seem to have used the more obscure methods of testing the same knowledge, if that makes sense! As these were used less often in the past papers she was less familiar with them.

She seems to think she might even have failed - I hope not since she was getting in the 90s for past papers. I'm sure she was exaggerating and it won't be as bad as she thinks! sad.gif

When I did my last theory exams I did at least 6 sets of past papers in preparation each time.... With that number there are likely to be fewer surprises in the way questions are asked.
