I have had numerous problems on my saxophone relating to sticky keys. It usually happens with the low C# key, so I play the C# key, and it doesn't release so it sounds a C natural. This sometimes happens with the G# key too.

Does anyone else have this problem?
Katet
I often had this problem with my old YAS23, the G# key, but once i released it, it was ok until i next got it out!
josax
me too !!

I thought it was through lack of use of those keys and a build up of saliva that has sealed them shut.

A friend has said running a cigerette paper through after tooting would help dry the pad.

I'll check back to this thread to see if you find the proper answer!!!!!!!!!!
Kate
Do you have any powder paper?
Don't go and buy the stuff designed for instruments though... you'll end up paying far more than if you go to superdrug and buy powdered papers for your face - they work just the same but only cost 99p!

You just might look silly buying powder paper for your face cos you're a guy... you might have to nominate a girl to get it for you!!

Thanks for the replies. It generally happens when it comes out the box and if I release it manually it should be fine until it goes away again. I'll try what I can to remove the stickiness.

Rizzler papers!!!! I love them!!! Or rather, my flute does, just stick them under the keys like normal.

And my clarinet teacher told me she always gets stopped at customs when they find them in her handbag at the airport!

I tend to just use rizzler papers (for flute and sax) but look at this:

That is quite shocking insert exclamation mark here, but i cant coz im in Spain and i cant work the keyboard
Kenny
Best is to get the Cleaning paper to get things out of your pads, then use the powder paper for smooth acting.
Katet
Or do what i did and get a new sax!
