I am desperately looking for a new trumpet teacher for my 11 year old son as his previous teacher has stopped teaching, but can't seem to find a teacher in our area. My son has obtained Guidhall School of Music Trumpet Grade 2 with Merit, but would like to learn something more modern - perhaps jazz. Does anyone know of a good teacher in the Southend-on-Sea, Essex area? I would greatly appreciate any suggestions.

You know the Jazz syllabus only goes up to grade 5 in the ABRSM... which may eventually prove a problem!

The Guildhall is also plenty more jazzy than the AB classical exams!

Thanks for the tip David! but at the moment I'm just keen to keep my son interested in playing trumpet while I try to find him a new teacher.

Hey maybe by the time his son gets up to grade 5 the Board might have developed the higher grades for the jazz syllabus.
