Evening all

This may be a bit of a wild-goose chase, but I'm trying to get hold of some music by the 20th Century Russian composer Georgy Sviridov.

So far I've tried Musicroom, 8notes, Amazon, Blackwells, Boosey&Hawkes, Peters, OUP, Alfred, Novello, Chappell, Durand....just about every other publisher that has a website in a language I speak or read....I've tried the local county library service, then all the other county library services in Britain, then the Bodleian, Cambridge University Library and the British Library. And drawn a blank. The last three do at least have some works by Sviridov, but not the one I'm after!

Trinity College Dublin library doesn't have the work I'm after either. The Library of Congress does, but I can't spare the time to go to DC to look at it!

The work in question is the song cycle Otchalivshaia Rus' (or Russia Cast Adrift), for soprano or mezzo-soprano (there are recordings on sale of both). The fact that it's been recorded a couple of times means someone must have a copy of the music - but I'm blowed if I can find it!

Any suggestions for where to look next?

Cheers

I've just looked on Chamberlain, and they've got one work by him called Trumpet Tune, but not the one you're after. Thought I'd post anyway to save anyone else looking there. smile.gif

I've been trying to track down some music by Byrd and the Associated Board pointed me to Allegro music, whose web site is here. They don't have it in their online catalogue, but try giving them a ring - they might be able to get it for you.

Good luck smile.gif

Thanks for these leads, folks.

A bit more digging shows that the work was published by the Russian State Music Publishing company (Muzyka) in 1988. I'm trying to track down their address - their website doesn't appear to be working even in Cyrillic just now.

Cheers
