Hi everybody! I'm thinking of joining the Royal Marines band service, but I don't think I'm a high enough quality on any of my instruments. I was wondering how easy it is to learn the bugle? I played the trumpet, but that was quite awhile ago. I'm aware that buglers in the armed forces are also required to play side drum and trumpet, but that's no problem because I'm taking percussion exams and I should be able to relearn trumpet. Is there anyone here who plays the bugle, or even anyone who's a musician in the armed forces?
Thanks,
Matt cool.gif
Alibonebone!
Almost - I've got my final part in the application to the RM band service (the week-long audition) in 2 weeks time. I've been told that they look more for potential rather than gained standards the younger you are. I play trombone and cello, and you have to do a fair bit of physical training, buit if it's what you want, just go for it! It's a great organisation to be a part of smile.gif
PS you can PM me if you want to know anything about the application process.
