I'm preparing for g5 Jazz piano in June.

One of the pieces I've chosen is "34Skidoo" (Bill Evans).

On the ABRSM CD I bought, I'm convinced that the solo section switches into 4/4 (the main tune is 3/4 jazz waltz).

Has anyone else got the CD and if so, do you agree? The exam music doesn't indicate a tempo change and the chords show 3/4.

But if I'm correct and the demonstartion on the CD does change to 4/4 for the solo section, does that mean that I am allowed to do that in the exam?

Have you got a teacher? if so ask them what they think.

I would think that you would have to play it as written in the book, but im not definite!

If you don't have a teacher then you could always ring up the board and ask!!! biggrin.gif

I'm teaching myself G5 Jazz piano and G8 Classical.

I've e-mailed the board but no reply as yet. Perhaps I'll ring them up. Or mabe I'll just play the solo in 3/4.

I suppose I'm being picky, but if the board sell a work CD of the exam pieces, you would expect the demonstartions to be (exam) correct.

I intend to teach Jazz piano so I probably should sort it out.

Thanks for reply
