Well my question is, Where do u get ur inspiration for piano improvisation,or composing ur own tunes, from. Do u just sit down at the piabo, practice scales and go from there? Do u make a variation on a famous tune? Do u go to the country side and wait until a tune comes into ur head? Or do u simply sit at the piano and wonder 'How the ###### am i meant to compose my own tune?', lol (that means Laugh Out Loud, if ya didnt know)
And also, do any of u know where i can find some free online videos (i dont want to buy them but watch them online).

I don't compose many piano solo pieces...I've only done one short one. If I do anything for piano it is mainly an accompaniment part.

If I feel like it I can sometimes just sit at the piano and play anything that comes into my head at that time.

I find composing very, very difficult. I guess I try to work out a chord sequence first, then try and fit a melody around that.

I think that is the easiest way to start.
And if your chord sequence goes in the right direction you can't really get lost.

I love composing but my pieces are almost always inspired. I came out of one music lesson having seen what a piano trio consisted of and I decided I wanted to compose one. I've just finished my third movement, which is pretty darn good, if I say so myself.

Or when you're somewhere special like on the moors at midnight or by a waterfall or in a forest, try and think of a melody and often one will just sing out to you. Trouble is remembering it, but keep humming it in your head til you get home.

Thats how mine usually come about anyway. . .

Tunes always just pop into my head, variations, original tunes etc. Once they are stuck into my head, I try to play around with them. The only big problem I get is when trying to remeber them. I just sit at the piano there gawped about trying to remember that song in my head last night.

This only happened about a few weeks ago, something clicked!

Currently, I'm making my first peice. I've already got a structure laid out, a main theme and now trying to get some differnet tunes to throw in there.

I experiment and play around with some ideas from previous composers then I write them down and effects.
