Hi, I'm just getting so excited about my performance on next monday because I was invited to play for the ABRSM High Achiever's Concert for my Piano Exam that I did this year. Has anyone played in one of those?? How's it like?? How can you reduce the nerves?? Because I'll be nervous on the day...

Just out of interest - which exam is this from - the grade 7 or 8? If grade 7 which one (or both)?

Is this "High Achiever's Concert" a very select event for just one person tongue.gif (sorry couldn't resist!).

Are you in a country where you get to go to a concert for just getting a distinction (perhaps not because you presumably would have been to one before for your other distinctions); or is it based on highest marks?

In what grade are you 7, 8 or dip?
Congrats for that!!! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Just be confident with your playing n do the best. smile.gif smile.gif

No, this High achiever's concert is for a certain amount of people who get high marks (which has to be at least distinction) in their ABRSM practical exams. No, it's not only for me as I'm only playing one little piece in the concert. tongue.gif I have never performed in these concert before( even though I got distinction in other grades), maybe they pick certain names out of the list who got distinction in that lot of exam period. And I guess I was the lucky one smile.gif !!

Because other people won't be able to see my face if it's a photo of me playing on the piano.

Congratulations, what are you going to play?

Hey I got asked to play in a high achievers concert, I declined tho cos it was only for my grade 1 piano!!! I'd be too embarrassed!
I was told that you were asked to play in such a concert if you got the highest marks in your county on the day you took your exam? Maybe it differs across the counties?

I, too, was invited but had to decline - the date was during my university exams in my first year.

Anyone who won a prize in the local area was invited to play in the concert; I think it was a 40 mile radius or so. The prize I won was for the highest mark in Grade 8 piano in a given year in a given geographical area; other prizes vary.
