Heya jus fishin 4 info reali
Was jus wonderin whether the more experienced of u out there knew whether it is better to go to a conservatoire or do a normal music degree at universities? My mum went to a conservatoire and would prefer me to get a degree at uni as at least then you can become a proper teacher (ie director of music or s/t at a school).
I think i'd prefer a conservatoire though as it is more actually playing and music than the theory isnt it?
Any help would be great!!!

I am not sure of this, but is a conservatory the same as an Academy of Music, like the 4 Royal Academies of Music? From their brochures, I see they offer MMus, MA, MPhil and PhD, just as universities, so this confuses me even more... what is the difference exactly (I'm sorry I cannot help you with your question, just add more questions here...)

most people believe conservatoires are better that unis but it depends which you'd rather do: conservatoires focus more on the performance, whereas unis focus more on the theory side, history etc.
