How long will I have to wait for results?
Andy-piano-flute
Not very long usually with Trinity -10 -14 days maximum over here I think
elmo
6 hours. They give them back the day of the exam.

Yeah I think if you are doing a graded exam and you hang around until the end of the session they will give out the results there and then (not sure if you get the detailed comments...)

For Diplomas it apparently takes about 2 weeks, although I waited about 6; Xmas and New Year in the middle complicated things somewhat.

For the first concert and final performance certificates with Trinity, they take 3-4 days for the results. Why are Trinity so much faster than ABRSM? dry.gif

The results are available when the examiner has finished his/her session at the centre. So if you take your exam at the beginning of the week it can mean several days, but if you take your exam on a Friday afternoon you can get them almost immediately.

Yeh not long, but when I was waiting for the results of my grade 8, it was over the holidays, and my teacher lost my phone number - I thought I'd failed!! blink.gif

ohmy.gif I hope so!

Mines at 12 o clock on a wednesday, so thats not the end of the session, so I'll have to wait until friday?
andante_in_c
Unless they finish the session on the Wednesday. Depends how many candidates are taking exams at the centre.
elmo
I don't know how long your session is, but there are only ever enough candidates around here to fill 1 or 2 days. Even the people on the first day got "pass fail merit distinction" back on that day, even if they didn't get the marks and comments

Probably because they are smaller.

ABRSM go back for central checking - goodness knows why, since the examiner's word is final anyway.

It's in case of bias, under marking that osrt of thing. They have to have a mini disc player recording the A2 music exams now so that they can be remarked in case of an appeal.

Actually Trinity do as well - at least at the diploma level. What I have found with Trinity, though, is that they send out the results ahead of the certificate, rather than waiting to do the certificate as well.

Trinity results are given to the local rep at the end of the session. If the session is 4 weeks long then a student taking the exam on the first day will have to wait much longer than a student taking an exam during the last week. It says something on the report about the mark being provisional until it is confirmed by a certificate - weeks later. I can't remember the exact wording because most of my students take ABRSM exams.

I just read on the Trinity website, that normally candidates get them the day after the exam, but will have to wait for 6/8 weeks before getting their certificate.

Hi

Do you really have to wait 6/8 weeks for Trinity exam certificates? As I just took my violin exam, and was hoping to receive my certificate soon! I might be an adult but it's still ver exciting! smile.gif

Yes it does take ages to receive Trinity certificates. I have waited for 3 months sometimes and by the time they arrive, both the students and myself had forgotten about them!
joyjoy
Oh dear.. well hopefully they'll come within a few weeks, I like the idea of getting the results almost straight away, but the actual certificate part is frustrating! smile.gif

I'm wondering how long I will have to wait for the examiner. My exam was due today at 5pm. I got up early and went to church to practice for a couple of hours. Plan was to go back about 3pm and get warmed up and ready.

Examiner rings at about 2pm... "sorry" he says "the traffic is dreadful" .. [pause] .. "can we reschedule for another time?"..

To be fair he was really nice about it, but I was just getting into "the zone" as it were.. and now I've got to get me head together and be prepared to play like Carlo Curley at 9.30am tomorrow (Saturday) morning!!

The only bright side might be that he feels a bit more disposed towards me, and that gets me an extra % or two laugh.gif cool.gif

Best of luck for tomorrow. smile.gif
