Good morning all. I will be brief: I have three years experience as assistant to the conductor and chorus master of the National Opera of Colombia, and I hold a first degree in composition from the National Conservatory of Music (also in Colombia). I wish to advance my carreer in conducting, but no one will take me seriously since I "only" have 3 years in-house experience, 15 years experiece as a composer, and 10 years university experience, both as a student and a lecturer, but no professional qualifications either in opera or in conducting.
I now live in the UK, and I am looking forward to appyling for a MMus in conducting or, if it exists, in opera conducting in one of the Royal Schools of Music, or any other reputable Academy of Music or Univeristy, so long as the focus is in opera, or that such an academy has a very strong opera school in which I could dedicate much of my training to opera.
So far, my enquiries have led me to the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and the Royal Northern Academy mainly, but I wonder if I am missing any interesting courses or schools somewhere else?
I thank you in advance for sharing your knowledge/experience with me
