Has anyone been involved with the music medals initiative?
As someone who does group teaching I shall be looking into them more closely.
Do you think that they will have the same credibility as the grades?
I am considering that they could be a good thing for a majority of pupils who are not necessarily aiming to get past grade 5 (how many of your total pupils will progress past grade 5?)- anyone who is keener to progress could switch to higher grades at a later time.
Any thoughts? dry.gif

Yes, I am very interested. Our music service is going to do an in-set day on them soon. With more emphasis on group teaching in schools they will be useful.

Thanks for the reply.
Our music service hasn't mentioned them yet- but it doesn't seem the kind of thing to be doing in isolation, I'm thinking of the teaching materials needed to set up this scheme and you have to video record pupils apparently! blink.gif

I also do a lot of group teaching, and have been reading about the music medals recently. At the moment i'm tending to do the prep test and then the grades with them. Does anyone know how each medal compares with the present graded exams? They seem like a lovely idea in principal....
